Accessibility Statement

Accessibility

This accessibility statement applies to the website https://www.northandmiddlelittleton-pc.gov.uk

This website is run by North and Middle Littleton Parish Council.

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • Most older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software
  • You cannot modify the line height or spacing of text
  • You cannot skip to the main content when using a screen reader
  • Keyboard movements are not always possible to access menus and pages

What to do if you cannot access parts of this website

If you need information on this website in a different format like accessible PDF, large print, easy read, audio recording or braille, please contact us at clerknmlpc@outlook.com. We’ll consider your request and respond within 30 days.

Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

The Parish Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non compliance with the accessibility regulations

Some images may not have a text alternative especially homepage banners, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information. When we publish new content we’ll make sure our use of images meets accessibility standards.

Some links may not be based on descriptive text beyond Click Here. These will be updated when found.

Some PDF and Microsoft Word documents may not meet accessibility standards.

Some links and news headings might come across as Redundant Title Text.

Some menu setups might not be navigable by the keyboard.

Accessibility problems that fall outside the scope of the accessibility regulations

PDFs and other documents

Many of our older PDF documents do not meet accessibility standards - for example, they may not be structured so they’re accessible to a screen reader. This does not meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 4.1.2 (name, role value).

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services. For example, we do not plan to fix old meeting minutes, accounts and newsletters. Those published after 23 September 2018 have already been generated as accessible PDFs or will be regenerated by the end of 2020. Any new PDFs we publish will meet accessibility standards.

How we tested this website

As a small Parish Council with limited funding we do not have the resources to employ external consultants to complete a full audit, therefore we have carried out the basic testing in-house in accordance with current guidance. This website was tested by the Parish Council using the online WAVE Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool. A selection of pages were tested.

The test was conducted on 25th March 2025 by X-Net Services using the WAVE tool (https://wave.webaim.org) to analyse the Homepage and selected content pages within the website. The results confirm that the site is WCAG 2.2 compliant.

We will keep the website under regular review and make improvements where necessary. New content will conform to the latest standards where possible.
