Littleton Football Club

Littleton Football Club – Nicknamed The Ton - was formed in 1890

However, it was not until the late 1970s that the club decided to purchase its own ground and moved to Five Acres on the Pebworth Road. In the years since then it has built changing rooms, a small clubhouse and a small stand for spectators. Floodlights have been installed and planning permission has been received to build a new clubhouse and an additional spectators stand.

Littleton FC has a long established and thriving Junior Section with 14 sides providing football for 8 to 18 year olds. These teams play in various locations in the surrounding area.

Colin Emms (1942 to 2024) a man of Littleton, started as a young player aged 12, becoming Manager, committee member, Club Secretary and ultimately onto Chairman of the club in 1996. As well as these roles, he was hands on and as a qualified groundsman, nothing missed his attention. Colin supported and organised numerous fundraising events and under his direction the Club has gone from strength to strength both on and off the pitch. Over the more recent years Colin continued to be an active committee member and treasurer, still finding time to fetch footballs out of the hedge and assisting with marking the pitch. In 2010 Colin won an ‘Outstanding Contribution Award’ at the Wychavon Sports Recognition Awards for his contributions over 50 years. He was also awarded ‘National Groundsman of Year 2010’ by the Worcestershire County Football Association. Colin will always be remembered as the Legend of Littleton Football Club, a true gentleman and fondly known as ‘Mr Littleton FC’.

In June 2024 plans were well underway for the preparations for the forthcoming season in the Midland Football League (MFL), where Littleton FC were remaining in Division 2. This was great news for the Club and allowed the newly appointed management team to create a new team utilising as many local players as possible. At the MFL presentation night in May 2024 the team won the ‘Bernard Davis Memorial Fair Play’ award, a great credit to the management and the team for the work done in the last season.

Stirling efforts have been made over recent weeks at the ground, which was looking like a mini Wembley, including replacing the old balcony to enjoy a summer drink.

Also in 2024 the Club announced that they were integrating Littleton Juniors into the Club. They had hosted their end of season presentation at the ground in June which was thoroughly enjoyed by all attending.

In November 2024 the Club joined forces with Littleton First School to plant a hedgerow at the Football Club. The community event was led by Jay Jennings, a class teacher at the school and attracted more than 80 participants from the school and the Junior teams, who planted 230 new trees.

In September 2025 it was announced that the Club had a new chapter afoot. The Club was thrilled to announce plans for a new community hub, built around the spirit of the cherished Littleton Football Club. For years, the club has been more than just a team; it’s been a cornerstone of local life. Guided by the vision of Chair Mark Wilcox, the club’s committee, and

with encouragement from Councillor Hannah Robson, they were now expanding that spirit to create a space truly for everyone. The new hub will be a place to connect, grow and support one another. As part of the national Hub100 programme and a ‘Hub for Hope’, it will offer everything from youth sessions and wellbeing support to family gatherings and local events. It’s about creating a healthy, welcoming environment where tradition meets new opportunities. Football will continue to bring us together on match days but this hub will weave together every strand of community life. The goal is to create a sustainable and lively centre that belongs to all of us.

Monthly fixtures for the team are published in The Littleton Link, although as all fixtures are subject to change it is wise to keep an eye on social media for any updates.

In season 2026-2027 the team is competing in the Hummel Herefordshire Football League. Boys and Girls Youth teams are also playing this season under the umbrella of Littleton FC. Their home fixtures are played at Blackminster Middle School on Saturday mornings. The club also has a reserve team playing at Littleton FC Five Acres ground.

The Club is always looking for new volunteers and committee members to help keep the club going. Anyone interested is invited to go along for a chat at one of their home games or get in touch with the Secretary (Marion Brighton) on 01905 909125 or email littletonfc@outlook.com.
